ExxonMobil's POE 5061 is a grade within the company's POE portfolio that strikes a balance between performance and efficiency. Formulated without specialized weathering additives, it achieves superior processability and efficiency by optimizing molecular chain mobility and blend compatibility; it is specifically tailored for applications in non-extreme environments, such as standard PP/PE modification and general-purpose film extrusion. Certified under RoHS and REACH standards, and offering balanced mechanical properties alongside a moderate flow rate, this material is a cost-effective choice for general-purpose POE applications, including soft automotive interior components, household films, and standard seals.
Key Features:
- Basic Properties: Ethylene-1-octene copolymer; melt index (MI) of approximately 0.5 g/10 min; density of approximately 0.868 g/cm³.
- Hardness: Shore A 70 and Shore D 19; exhibits excellent softness and flexibility.
- Mechanical Properties: Features excellent tear strength, high toughness, and good low-temperature impact resistance; maintains structural integrity and resists brittle fracture even in cold environments.
- Processing Properties: Free-flowing pellets that are easy to process; moldable without vulcanization; can be efficiently blended with base resins such as polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE).

- Automotive Industry: Serves as a key modifier for thermoplastic polyolefins (TPO) in the manufacture of bumpers, dashboards, interior components, and airbag covers, significantly enhancing material ductility and resistance to brittle fracture at temperatures of -30°C or lower.
- Packaging and Films: Thanks to excellent low-temperature heat-sealing properties and flexibility, it is suitable for flexible food packaging, stretch films, and multilayer co-extruded films, enabling reduced packaging weight while maintaining seal integrity.
- Wire and Cable: Used in sheathing and insulation layers for medium- and low-voltage cables, providing outstanding electrical insulation, resistance to environmental stress cracking, and aging resistance to ensure long-term operational safety.
- General Injection Molding and Extrusion: Used to produce toys, luggage, pipes, hoses, and stationery; its addition improves puncture resistance, elongation, and surface feel, while allowing for processing without the need for vulcanization.
