PMMA Process Technology

Jun 26, 2024|

PMMA is an important plastic polymer material developed earlier, with good transparency chemical stability and weather resistance, easy dyeing, easy processing, beautiful appearance, and has been widely used in the construction industry. Organic glass products can usually be divided into cast plates, extruded plates and molded plastics.

First of all, PMMA process technology can be divided into two categories, namely injection molding and extrusion molding. Injection molding is to heat and melt PMMA particles or particle prefabricated parts through an injection molding machine, inject them into the mold for cooling and curing, and finally get the required finished product. Extrusion molding is to heat and melt PNMA particles or particle prefabricated parts through the extrusion machine and extrude through the extrusion head, and finally get the desired finished product.

  • The process of injection molding is as follows:
First, the raw material is prepared, PMMA particles are added to the injection molding machine, and heated and melted to a certain temperature. The molten PMIMA is then injected into a mold, the design and manufacture of which has an important impact on the quality of the finished product. Next, the PNMA injected into the mold is cooled and cured, usually using cold water or a cooler to speed up the cooling. Finally, open the mold, take out the finished product, and carry out subsequent processing and treatment.

  • The process of extrusion molding is as follows:
First, the raw material is prepared, the PMMA particles are added to the extrusion machine, and heated and melted to a certain temperature. The molten PMMA is then extruded through the extrusion head, the shape and size of which will directly affect the appearance and dimensional accuracy of the finished product. Next, the extruded PMMA is drawn and cooled, usually using a cooling tank or cooler. Finally, the cooled PMMA is cut and trimmed to obtain the desired finished product.

In addition to injection molding and extrusion molding, PMMA can also be processed by other process technologies, such as hot pressing, vacuum blister, calendering, etc. Different process technologies are suitable for different finished product needs and can be selected according to the specific situation.

In the process technology of PMMA, some key issues need to be considered, such as temperature control, mold design, cooling methods, etc. Temperature control is an important factor to ensure the melting and cooling of PMIA, which needs to be adjusted according to the actual situation. Mold design determines the appearance and quality of the finished product, need to take into account the fluidity and shrinkage of PNIA, the choice of cooling method directly affects the quality of the finished product and production efficiency, need to choose the appropriate way according to the specific situation.

In short, the PMMA process technology is to put PMMA particles or particle prefabricated parts through a series of processing processes, and finally get the desired finished product. Injection molding and extrusion molding are the most commonly used process technologies, and the appropriate way can be selected according to the actual needs. In the processing of PMMA, key issues such as temperature control, mold design, and cooling methods need to be considered to ensure the quality and production efficiency of the finished product.
