1. The definition of PP

Polypropylene, referred to as PP, is a polymer made of propylene by addition polymerization. White waxy material, transparent and light in appearance. Polypropylene is a thermoplastic synthetic resin with excellent properties. It is a colorless semi-transparent thermoplastic lightweight general purpose plastic with chemical resistance, heat resistance, electrical insulation, high strength mechanical properties and good high wear resistance.

2. Classification of PP

It can be divided into film grade, injection grade, pipe material, fiber grade, yarn grade, coating grade, foaming grade and powder grade. In these categories, European and American countries for injection molding products accounted for 50% of the total consumption, mainly used as parts of automobiles, electrical appliances, various containers, furniture, packaging materials and medical equipment; Film accounted for 8% to 15%, polypropylene fiber (Chinese commonly known as polypropylene) accounted for 8% to 10%; The pipes and plates for construction and other purposes account for 10% to 15%, and the others are 10% to 12%. At present, the amount of woven products in China accounts for 40% to 45%, followed by film and injection products accounting for about 40%; Polypropylene and other accounts for 10% to 20%.

3. The prospects of PP

The export direction of polypropylene is diversified, mainly covering Asia, Europe, Africa, America and other regions. Among the many export destinations, it is necessary to focus on the four major markets of Southeast Asia, South Asia, Africa and South America.

Southeast Asian countries have an increasingly strong demand for polypropylene, so they have become an important destination for my country's polypropylene exports. Southeast Asian PP supply is mainly concentrated in Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore and Indonesia. PP consumption is mainly diaphragms, followed by drawing and injection molding. Southeast Asia will usher in a wave of capacity expansion in the next few years.

South Asian PP consumption is mainly concentrated in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. PP consumption is mainly drawing, accounting for 37% of its total consumption; followed by injection molding and film, accounting for 31% and 20% respectively.

Africa is one of the more active PP consumption regions in recent years, mainly concentrated in Egypt, South Africa and Nigeria. PP consumption is mainly drawing, accounting for 40% of its total consumption; followed by injection molding and film, accounting for 30% and 11% respectively.

South American market
In recent years, the import volume of PP in the South American market has shown a steady growth trend. South American PP supply is mainly concentrated in Brazil, Colombia and Argentina. At the same time, free trade agreements and trade facilitation measures in South America also provide a more convenient trading environment for polypropylene imports.

4. The Characteristics of pp

Superior physical and chemical properties

Polypropylene is a kind of polymer with high strength, good weather resistance and strong chemical stability, and has excellent physical and chemical properties. It is transparent at room temperature, and has good impact resistance, wear resistance and ultraviolet radiation resistance. In addition, polypropylene has good flame retardancy, low water absorption, corrosion resistance and antistatic properties, making its application in the material industry gradually increased.

Good processing performance

Polypropylene has good processing properties and can be made into various complex shapes by blow molding, injection molding and extrusion. In addition, polypropylene can be composite processed with other materials, and can be combined with fiber materials such as glass fiber and carbon fiber to form materials with better performance, making polypropylene occupy an important position in the field of plastic products. Moreover, the production cost of polypropylene is relatively low, and the cost advantage is also an important reason for its large share in the market.

Good thermal stability

Polypropylene has good thermal stability and can be used for a long time in high temperature environments without losing its physical and chemical properties. It can be kept at a temperature of about 100 ° C for a long time, and can also be used in an environment below zero, which has strong adaptability. This makes polypropylene widely used in areas such as vehicle manufacturing, building materials and medical devices.

5. Application of PP

Machinery and automobile manufacturing parts

Polypropylene has good mechanical properties, can be directly manufactured or modified to manufacture various mechanical equipment parts, such as manufacturing industrial pipes, agricultural water pipes, motor fans, infrastructure templates, etc. The modified polypropylene can be molded into bumpers, anti-friction strips, car steering wheels, instrument panels and interior decorations, etc., greatly reducing the body weight to achieve the purpose of energy conservation.

Electronic and electrical industrial devices

Modified polypropylene can be used to make the insulating shell of household appliances and the inner liner of washing machines, and is widely used as an insulating material for wire and cable and other electrical appliances

Construction Industry

Polypropylene fiber is the lightest of all chemical fibers, its density (0.90~0.92)g/cm3, with high strength, good toughness, chemical resistance and microbial resistance and low price advantages, Polypropylene modified with glass fiber reinforcement or modified with rubber and SBS is widely used in the production of building engineering templates. Polypropylene after foaming can be used to make decorative materials. When the earthquake occurs, the failure mode of polypropylene fiber ceramisite concrete is plastic failure, and there is no fragmentation. It is safer to choose polypropylene fiber ceramic concrete than plain ceramic concrete.

Agriculture, fisheries and food industry

Polypropylene can be used in the production of greenhouse gas, plastic film, culture bottles, farm tools, fish nets, etc., the production of food turnover boxes, food bags, beverage packaging bottles.

Textile and printing industries

Polypropylene is the raw material of synthetic fiber, polypropylene fiber is widely used in the production of lightweight and beautiful durable textile supplies, the application of polypropylene material printed picture is particularly bright, bright, beautiful.

Other industries

In the chemical industry, polypropylene can be used to prepare a variety of corrosion resistant pipeline, storage tank, valve, packing tower in the shape of filler, filter cloth, corrosion resistant pump and corrosion resistant container lining; In the field of medicine, it can be used to make medical equipment; Polypropylene can also be developed and applied in the energy field through grafting, compounding and blending processes.
