It is an E‑glass chopped strand T438G treated with special silane‑based sizing system. It features excellent strand integrity, high bulk density and low fuzz content. It possesses good flowability for accurate fiber‑loading control, favorable temperature resistance and minimal color difference. It can provide composites with outstanding physical and chemical performances when compounded with polypropylene resin.

Applications

Chopped glass fiber T438G is specially developed for extrusion compounding and pelletizing process to reinforce thermoplastic PP. It is widely used for manufacturing glass‑filled polypropylene composite pellets for automotive parts, household appliances and various industrial plastic components.

Manufacturing process

It is produced by chopping continuous alkali‑free E‑glass roving coated with customized silane sizing agent. The finished chopped strands are supplied in cut‑length form, which can be directly fed into twin‑screw extruders for compounding with PP matrix resin.

Technical specifications

The technical specifications may vary depending on production batches, but typically include filament diameter, chopped length, loss‑on‑ignition, moisture content and composite mechanical performances. For example, typical filament diameter for T438G is 13 μm, chopped length is 4.5 mm; typical loss‑on‑ignition is 0.50 %, moisture content ≤0.05 %. When reinforced into PP blended with 5% Polybond 3200 at 30 wt% fiber loading, typical lab‑tested tensile strength reaches 95.5 MPa, flexural strength 143.3 MPa, flexural modulus 6025 MPa and IZOD notched impact strength 13.2 kJ/m² (ASTM test standards). Safety and environmental considerations

Standard industrial personal protective equipment is recommended during handling to prevent inhalation of fine glass dust. Store the product in cool and dry places and keep away from rain. Recommended storage temperature: 5℃‑35℃, relative humidity 35%‑65%. Condition at room temperature for over 24 hours before use for optimal performance. It is suggested to consume within 12 months upon receipt. Keep packaging sealed or tightly closed if not in use to avoid moisture absorption. Dispose glass‑fiber waste in compliance with local environmental regulations.
